Division C Singles & Doubles play on Saturday, the 14th was a lot of fun. We had 17+ players competing at McGee's.

C Division teams & Players - we know the weather is supposed to be nice on Saturday, but don't forget that the C Division Singles & Doubles Event is still on for McGee's Pub starting at 12:30.

Sorry for the delay, but week 1 takes extra time and I was too busy having a great time at Anthony Eugenia's DPNY Doubles Event yesterday at Percy's Tavern. Congratulations to the first pair to win the Roger Herbert Trophy - Jim Widmayer & Tim O'Gorman. There were some awesome darts thrown by a lot of people, but unfortunately for my partner, Charlie, I did not throw them.

Team Captains & Second Contacts -

 

The Spring 2012 season's Package Pick Up Night is this Thursday night, the 15th, 7:45 pm start time. We will be at Whiskey River - 575 2nd Avenue - between 31st & 32nd Street.

 

If you can not make the pick up yourself, you should arrange for another team member to get the package for you - or perhaps another captain from your bar. The penalty for failing to pick up the package is a $20 fine AND subtraction of 5 team points. So, please make sure someone comes and gets it!

 

Don't forget our service feature we started a few seasons ago - The Steve Sterns / Tom Pitt service. At package pick up, when a captain comes in from a bar that has more than one team, we always try to talk them into taking all the packages for the bar so that none of the teams get penalized for failing to make the pick up. Unfortunately, this means that some captains show up and their package is already gone. We do give those people copies of the schedules and the package will be a the bar. But some people get annoyed for the traveling with no package at the end of the trip. So, if you e-mail us that you or a teammate are definitely coming in person, we will hold your package for you even if others from your bar get there before you. You need to send the e-mail no later than 12:30 pm to give us enough time to get the notice before we leave.

 

This was another rough season for placing teams. We had issues for both nights. It meant moving some teams' divisional placement up or down and some of our subdivisions are traveling more than normal. Especially disturbing is the Tuesday Divisions C. Once again they are starting with only 6 teams (2 byes each). We had quite a few Tuesday teams either switch to Monday or not reregister. On Monday nights we had 18 teams for the A division - that does not work. For two subdivisions we need 14 to 16 teams. But for 3 subdivisions we need 21 to 24. So, teams get moved around in both directions.

 

FYI - 64 Monday Teams - Subdivisions = 2 A - no byes, 3 B - no byes, & 3 C - no byes. 46 Tuesday Teams - Subdivisions = 1 A - 1 bye, 2 B - 2 byes, & 2 C - 4 byes.

 

Remember, if your subdivision has a bye, you should arrange to play another available team from either the other subdivision or a team available in your own subdivision to earn an extra point and as well as having he practice and the fun night out. (This also means that your sponsoring bar will not lose out on the revenue.)

 

Hint: Call the other team(s) the week before you both have the bye. You can figure out from the schedule where they are playing and can call them at the match. We really want to encourage the Tuesday teams (especially the C teams) to make arrangements to play a match on their bye weeks. You can play the other team available in your own subdivision or a team from one of the other subdivisions - just make sure you have a board available at the bar where you choose to play. It will be scores under the rules for extra (bye / forfeit week) matches, but at least you are not skipping 4 weeks in the season. If you have any leftover mailing envelopes or the 4-ply match score sheets, please bring them Thursday & turn them in for re-use. (Just the score sheets and envelopes please.) As another reminder for the beginning of the season, please remember that the phone numbers listed on the schedules is the bar's phone number, not the captain's home numbers. If you have contacting another team, call the league. We don't believe in posting personal numbers on the internet for all to see, but we will get you in touch with another team as best we can.

 

Also, this is an excellent opportunity to pay your team fees. Talk to your bars and bring the payment if you can. Don't forget the team fee is $250 per team.

DEADLINE DAY for the Spring 2012 Season! - I am covering the league phone until 3:30 or so. Then at Gaf East tonight from ~ 6:30 to 11:30 or so. We have been told that some people have had problems getting thru on the fax machine, so e-mail or drop off might be a better choice.

Please get those registration forms in!
